Purple Smoothie

28 Dec

Do you know what’s in my purple smoothie?  Can you guess?  Would you believe me if I tell you?  Okay, since this is a Pinoy Recipe blog, some might say, ube?  But no, ube is something you can get in the Philippines, but it’s very rare over here in the US.  Since I’ve been here, I have not seen ube.

Anyway, just let me tell you something about my purple smoothie.  This smoothie, although not a Filipino recipe, has become a part of my everyday life.  This is the thing that helped me lose 34 pounds in less than 3 months.  During the first few weeks of my lifestyle change, I drank smoothie for breakfast lunch and supper.  I also had vegetable salads as my main dish.  I ate and drink all I want and managed to lose all the excess weight.  And the weirdest thing is the more I ate, the more I lose weight.

People at work still asks me how I lost a lot of weight and I am getting tired of it.  It was great at first because I wasn’t the only one seeing results.  But then, it gets annoying as time goes by, especially when I tell them how I did it and they still won’t believe me.  People asks me crazy questions like if I was on drugs or something.  Then some of them would tell me to stop losing weight.  Like, really?

Anyway, there really is no secret.  If you want to lose weight, the key is to eat healthy.  When I say healthy, I mean, fruits and vegetables.  No animal products, no dairies, no salt, no bread, and no sugar.  That’s it.  Sounds so hard?  Yes.  I won’t deny it.  It was so hard for me.  And I would say, the hardest part was to start it.  There were days that I would cry because I was craving for salt.  But I’m so glad those cravings are over.  And in less than 3 months, my taste buds have adjusted and I no longer crave bad foods.

I really like adobo, lumpia, pinoy bistek, and other pinoy foods, but I have to avoid it not because I don’t want to gain weight, but because these pinoy recipes are not very healthy.

Anyway, let’s go back to my purple smoothie.  What’s in my purple smoothie?  Here is the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Banana
  • Frozen blueberries
  • Frozen pineapples
  • Frozen mangoes
  • A lot of spinach
  • Soy milk

Procedure:

  • Blend all of the ingredients in a blender until you reach your desired consistency.
  • Enjoy your smoothie.

There is really not much to it.  And believe me, you won’t be able to taste the spinach.  Try it and see.  Let me know how it turns out.  :)

Hello maam.. I’m interested in trying your puple smoothie. But blueberry is hard to find here in manila. Is there any alternative?

    Hi Chie,

Thanks for visiting the site. It doesn’t have to be blueberry. Raisins, strawberries, or grapes would be okay. :)

Dumbbells are a great way to lose weight and get your body in shape.

After all, what are the chances that you would draw the one
and only room in a 200-room, five-star hotel whose weight room is located directly above your
head. To add variety to your routine one must mix up your reps, sets, weight used, rest periods, exercises, duration, and intensity.

If you’re going to use it for cooking food for yourself only, then you can choose a small electric model that will be enough for that purpose. This article lists the various types of these units based on the place where they may be used. Get rid of the debris that is clogging it and test the igniter again.

Karen, I can’t wait to try your smoothie – I will actually make some tonight for dinner.

You will be missed at Sunrise; however, we wish you great success in your new career. You will be an awesome nurse.

    Keep in touch
